About Wangdoo.com

Smart Tech. Honest Guides. Written in Dublin.

A Dublin-based tech publication built on curiosity and honesty

Wangdoo.com was founded in 2025 by Clayton Samuel — known to friends as Tony, and to readers under the brand name “Mr Wangdoo” — a Dublin-based technology writer who had grown frustrated with tech media that either talked down to readers or dressed up marketing material as journalism. The idea was straightforward: build a site that covers technology the way a knowledgeable friend would — clearly, honestly, and without any agenda beyond being genuinely useful.

“Wangdoo” is the brand built around the values Clayton brings to his own approach to technology: plain-talking curiosity, independent thinking, and a belief that great tech content should never require a glossary to understand. Whether you are a first-time buyer trying to make sense of smart home devices, an Apple enthusiast keeping up with the latest releases, or someone who just wants to understand where AI is heading — Wangdoo.com is written with you in mind.

We are a small, independent operation — not a media corporation with advertising pressures pulling us in every direction. That independence matters. It means every article we publish is chosen and written on its merits, not because a PR company sent us a press release. We research thoroughly, write clearly, and stand behind what we publish.

QFA — Qualified Financial Adviser Former AML / Compliance Web & Cloud Infrastructure Electronics Background

Before turning his attention to technology journalism, Clayton spent years working across financial services and anti-money laundering compliance, holding a Qualified Financial Adviser (QFA) designation. That background instilled a habit that now shapes everything published on Wangdoo.com: check the claim, verify the source, disclose what you don’t know.

Alongside that, Clayton has a hands-on background in electronics, web development, and cloud infrastructure — he built and personally maintains Wangdoo.com’s entire technical stack, from hosting and DNS to the site’s custom WordPress theme. It’s an unusual combination for a tech writer: the regulatory discipline to be precise and accountable, paired with the technical fluency to actually understand how the products being covered work, rather than just rephrasing a press release.

Every article on this site is written, edited, or directly overseen by Clayton. Where Wangdoo.com hasn’t physically tested a product, that is stated plainly in the article itself — we’d rather tell you what we don’t know than fake authority we don’t have.

Research first. Opinions earned. No filler, ever.

Every topic we cover starts with genuine research. We dig into product announcements, manufacturer specifications, independent test data, industry reports, and real user feedback before a single word goes to draft. We cross-reference sources, question marketing claims, and work hard to separate what is genuinely exciting from what is simply well-advertised.

We do not pad articles to hit a word count. We do not write clickbait headlines that disappoint when you reach the content. We do not let commercial relationships influence our editorial judgement — Wangdoo.com carries no sponsored content and accepts no payment for coverage. What you read here is what we genuinely believe to be accurate, useful, and worth your time.

Our editorial standard is simple: be accurate, be clear, be useful. If a product is overhyped, we will say so. If a technology is genuinely impressive, we will explain exactly why. If we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and transparently. Readers deserve honesty — not enthusiasm for hire.

How we keep ourselves honest

E-E-A-T isn’t a buzzword to us — it’s a checklist. Here’s exactly how it works behind the scenes at Wangdoo.com.

🔍

Verified, Not Recycled

Before we cover a topic, we check it hasn’t already been thoroughly reported by major outlets. We’d rather cover something genuinely underserved than rewrite someone else’s scoop.

🏷️

Tested vs. Not Tested

Every product article states plainly whether Wangdoo.com has physically tested the item. Analysis is always clearly labelled as documentation-based when it is.

🚫

No Pay-for-Play

No sponsored posts, no paid placements, no affiliate relationship is ever allowed to influence which products we cover or what we say about them.

✍️

Single Accountable Editor

Clayton Samuel writes, edits, or directly reviews every piece published on this site. There’s always a named person accountable for what’s published.

🔄

Corrections, Openly

If something we publish turns out to be wrong or outdated, we fix it and note the correction — we don’t quietly edit history.

📍

EU/Ireland Context

Where pricing, availability, or regulation differs for Irish and European readers versus US-focused coverage elsewhere, we call it out explicitly.

All things worth knowing.

🤖

Our AI and Tech coverage cuts through the hype to explain what these developments actually mean for everyday people. We cover tools, trends, breakthroughs, and the big questions surrounding the technology reshaping our world.

Apple remains one of the most followed and debated companies in tech. We cover everything from iPhone and Mac releases to iOS updates, Apple services, and the broader ecosystem. Whether you are deciding which device to buy or trying to get more from the one you already own, our Apple coverage is designed to help you make smarter decisions.

📱

Gadgets

From smartphones and earbuds to wearables, cameras, and everything in between — our Gadgets section is your guide to the devices worth knowing about. 🏠

Home Automation

Smart home technology has never been more accessible, but it can still feel overwhelming to know where to start. Our Home Automation content covers smart speakers, lighting, security, thermostats, and full ecosystem setups — explained clearly for real people, not just tech enthusiasts. We include Irish energy costs and EU-specific product availability where relevant.

🚗

Automotive

The automotive world is going through its biggest transformation in a century. Electric vehicles, connected car technology, and shifting brand landscapes are reshaping what it means to own and drive a car. We cover the models, the technology, and the industry trends that matter — without the showroom spin.

🚀

Startups

Some of the most interesting ideas in the world right now are coming from startups. Our Startups coverage shines a light on the companies, founders, and innovations that are challenging established industries. We cover funding news, product launches, and founder stories in a way that is accessible and genuinely interesting.

📋

Our How To guides are written for people who want clear, practical instructions — not walls of technical jargon. Whether you are setting up a new device, troubleshooting a problem, or trying to get more out of an app or service, our step-by-step guides are designed to get you from confused to confident as quickly as possible.

🌐

Global

Technology does not exist in a vacuum — it intersects with culture, politics, economics, and society in ways that affect all of us. Our Global section explores the broader stories behind the tech world: how different countries are approaching AI regulation, how emerging markets are leapfrogging old infrastructure, and what global trends tell us about where things are heading.

📦

Xiaomi

Xiaomi has quietly become one of the most innovative and value-driven tech brands on the planet. From smartphones and tablets to smart home devices and wearables, the Xiaomi ecosystem is vast, affordable, and constantly evolving. We cover new launches, product comparisons, and buying guides to help you navigate everything Xiaomi has to offer.

Independent. Honest. Always.

Wangdoo.com is fully independent. We have no investors to satisfy, no parent company setting an editorial agenda, and no advertisers telling us what to write. Every article published on this site is chosen and written entirely on the basis of whether it is genuinely useful or interesting to our readers.

Clayton Samuel and the Wangdoo.com team are based in Dublin, Ireland, and write primarily for a global English-speaking audience — with particular attention to readers in Ireland and Europe where product availability, pricing, and regulations often differ from what US-focused tech media covers. If something is not available in Europe, or costs significantly more here, we will tell you. We think that level of practical honesty is exactly what good tech journalism should look like.
